A former commander of the the nation's space operations center will deliver recommendations next month on how the government-funded institute can best support the scope of official artificial intelligence goals in defense, homeland protection and intelligence.
Organizational Refocusing
The organization's leader, a previous Amazon UK leader, confirmed that 78 different research projects at the center employing hundreds have been terminated, transferred out or completed because they fail to match with the new direction.
Internal Challenges
The center has faced internal strife since last year as staff protested against restructuring, culminating in a group of employees registering an official concern to the proper supervisory commission.
The organization's management stated that these staff complaints were independently investigated by a neutral third party that found them to have lack merit.
