England's Bowling Consultant Tim Southee Uncertain on Ashes Participation
Tim Southee's most recent Test match for the Kiwis was against the English side in the final month of 2024.
England's fast-bowling advisor Tim Southee is still working through the extent of his role will be during the forthcoming Ashes contest in Australia.
The ex- Kiwi seamer is only likely to be present for the opening match because of his participation in the International League T20 tournament, which starts on 2 December in the United Arab Emirates.
The 36-year-old, 36, took up a position as England's pace bowling advisor in the summer after taking 391 scalps in 107 Tests for the Kiwis.
Commenting as England's squad for the opening of three T20 matches against New Zealand was announced, he stated of his availability: "We are still evaluating that at the present time.
"We will determine the outcome over the next little while."
English pace icon Broad had declared the Australia side as their "weakest squad since 2010", but Southee was in no uncertainty over what to expect during the contest, which starts on November 21.
"In my view there's ever a poor Australian cricket team," Southee said.
"Our focus is firmly on our own objectives. In my opinion the caliber of [England's] side that's heading out to Australia is excellent.
"It ought to be an absolute cracker, that series. Not only [are|do] fans from both nations eagerly anticipate it, I believe the whole cricket world is."
However, prior to England travel to the city of Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they face New Zealand in the city of Christchurch on this Saturday.
