Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Battles Artist Murs in Premier League Predictions
The Gunners' ten-match victorious streak came to an end by Sunderland prior to the international hiatus, but will the Premier League frontrunners recover against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?
"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.
"Frank will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still find a way to win."
The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, versus AI, readers and a variety of guests.
In the twelfth round, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.
Murs' new album, the new release, is available on Friday.
Football and Family Experiences
Olly is a skilled soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a star of several Soccer Aid matches over time - but he is not intending a professional return as a footballer.
"{I recently played in a charity game the other night for a mate of mine," he explained. "My team was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!
"I continue to love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it properly again.
"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or boy decides to play instead."
Murs and his spouse his partner have a young family, Madison and Albert, and he is ready to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their coach.
"I won't force football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be coaching their Saturday football team," he added.
"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously owned a football club for a while too.
"My dad coached with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I inherited it. He coached our team for several seasons and had great fun with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues might have to be patient for Cole Palmer's comeback from fitness issues but their attack is already more potent with Joao Pedro and Delap both back fit.
In my opinion this fixture will be fairly tight, however. The Clarets are disciplined and their only home losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.
It suggests a 1-1 draw to me, but I am in fact going to choose Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.
Sutton's forecast: 1-2
The singer's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3
AI's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have lost their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.
In contrast, West Ham won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they appear strong again.
West Ham's sole away win this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still Forest coach.
Therefore, what on earth do I go with here - can West Ham extending their streak under Nuno, or the home side bouncing back?
I will go with the Cherries, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a blip.
Sutton's prediction: 2-0
Olly's outlook: Bournemouth are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2
AI's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were considered one of the favourites for relegation before the campaign began, but they have surprised a several observers under their manager and are in good form with three wins in their last four games.
A family member told me to select Brentford striker Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.
The forward will probably score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back Brentford at Brighton's ground.
They have not had great fortune on the road this season, and Brighton are consistently strong at their stadium. Brentford will attempt to attack on the break but I think the home manager's side pose much more of a danger.
Sutton's forecast: 2-1
Olly's view: It could be a match where you think there is going to be a many scores but it in reality turns out to be quite close. 1-1
AI's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a massive game for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six games.
Fulham have have lots of talent in their team but it still seems like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.
Regarding Sunderland, indeed they are the surprise package of the top flight season so far.
The away side's display in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not witnessed any other team rough up the North London side like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.
The sensible thing to do to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the last time they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the end of last month.
However I am not choose that. Instead, I really need to continue going against Sunderland with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of credit for their positive results because they evidently enjoy to defy my predictions.
Considering the home side's home record, the only team they have lost to is Arsenal. Marco Silva's side will be absolutely eager for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will pick up three much-needed points.
Sutton's forecast: 1-0
The guest's prediction: I'm aware the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that Fulham are on a bad streak... but Fulham have still been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0
The algorithm's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a tough fixture to call. Liverpool have lost seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but might they be one of the teams who profit from the {international break|
