The network's Top Fresh Series of 2025 Gets a Major Renewal for an Additional Two Seasons.

During the fall season, Adult Swim welcomed back its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. However, shortly thereafter, the channel launched a completely new animated series with a markedly softer tone. Haha, You Clowns emerged as heartwarming and calm, evoking a animated take of a laid-back talk show. During a period often characterized by dark humor, this show's sincerity struck a chord and turned it into a breakout hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

On December 18th, the network made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for two additional seasons. This offers creator Joe Cappa a massive runway to further explore the world of the Campbell family. The show focuses on three well-mannered teenage brothers whose central trait is their profound affection for their widowed father, with Cappa portraying for all four central characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the audience of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and helped it grow," said Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for seasons to come."

A President's Endorsement

In the same announcement commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and oddly captivating." He shouted out the fans who found the show and supported its distinctly quirky style.

"All of you showed up for this new show, championed for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

Earlier this fall, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a gentle counterpart" to more cynical adult animated fare. Viewers found something surprisingly comfy about following this lovable family go about their simple existence.

At the time, creator Joe Cappa shared his goal to move the comedy genre beyond its prevailing cynical streak. He attributed this trend to a broader media landscape.

“There's this level of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” noted Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we just have to laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

What Comes Next

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa may well be part of that comedic shift. If nothing else, the renewal guarantees audiences more opportunities to bask in the heartfelt moments of the unique Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. The entire series is ready to watch on HBO Max.
