Despite entering their first-ever European adventure, Crystal Palace are learning at a rapid pace. Missing star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a commanding win that virtually secures them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another three points in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure direct entry to the knockout stages, especially after a previous setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Opportunity
This occasion offered a chance for some of Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a clinical finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second game in succession.
A Shelbourne side that had finished their league season proved no match against a mostly rotated Palace outfit. The visitors were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg injuries.

The home side were hanging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for two robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

The contest was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect night for the visiting side.
